Value For Human Lives In African Culture

Dear Readers,

I feel worried to some extent about the unconcerned attitude most drivers and our road users display and exhibit  as they drive past with speed in  residential areas and public places without showing care and  regard for the safety of human lives.

This kind of behaviour has led to the loss of many, many lives and we Africans have not yet realised the need to slow down when driving en route high ways when we get to cities, towns and public places.

It is high time the road authorities roused up from their comfort zones to work towards enforcing policies and regulations to bring this situation under control.

Another issue is that most of us love noise to the extent that we use our horns anyhow as road users  when we see humans crossing our roads instead of slowing down to ensure we do not injure or mistakenly end the lives of such people.

Need I lament about the loud noise we make in our churches and mosques located in our major towns and cities during worship and special events at such places?

As December is fast approaching make we value our own lives and that of others; may we make efforts to preserve the lives of people who cross our roads.

May we reduce the unusual noise we make in our major towns and cities: may we reduce the noise we make in our churches (and may our Islam brethren learn from henceforth to reduce the noise they make during worship and during Islamic festivities).

Let us show love for one another. We are Ghanaians- one people: we are Africans-  a people of one origin.Land of our birth may we pledge to love you and to love all are neighbours - our  folks and to avoid actions that would cause untimely deaths or harm to human lives.

May we all live exemplary lives. Happy Xmas in advance to all and sundry.

Yours faithfully,

Signed
