Suggestions For Automating Ghana's Hospitals

Dear Readers,

There is the dire need for Ghana to quickly resolve the challenges that has hitherto hindered the country from having a fully nationwide networked automated system in our hospitals.

The proper house addressing system as well as the national identification challenges should be speedily dealt with.

This government must slake the thirst of its populace for better health service delivery and this could be realized when among others we have a computerized system accessible at all health facilities in Ghana bearing useful information such as clients  electronic folders with the doctors prognosis, reports, treatment and diagnosis of clients, doctors information and details, the various medical facilities the clients have ever visited &c.

This would go a long way to boost our health system, ensure transparency, eliminate the quack doctors from the medical practice and reduce mortality rates in Ghana since  clients could be attended to just upon arrival at the hospitals without creating new folders each time they visit a new hospital and give the health experts vivid information as to clients medical history and grant them a fair view of how to handle clients.

It would bring the very good doctors we have in Ghana to the limelight and improve investor confidence in this country for the saying goes," A healthy nation is a productive nation"

So Ghana Did Not Qualify For 2018 World Cup?

Dear Readers,

So Ghana Did Not Qualify For 2018 World Cup?

I had the chance to interact with a student nurse in one of our government hospitals and the information I gathered from her was that there are no inter college sporting activities for students of such institutions(It would interest you to note that most of these students are even not on Facebook or social media. Has the country lost the battle towards modernity and progress?)

How can Ghana qualify for World Cup sporting activities when most of our country's youth keep displaying an unusual frenzy when they see foreign sports clubs playing matches on television? Why does our country unusually promote foreign sports activities by airing them too often on TV?

Why has our country failed to mobilize the young people in our various tertiary institutions-- nurses training colleges, teacher training colleges , our universities -- by recruiting them into clubs to play to uplift the standards of football in our country?

Most of our young girls indulging in prostitution would consider joining such clubs as a positive alternative and this would help revamp the performance of our nation's national female teams- especially the Black Queens.

I suggest that at the regional levels private investors and individuals should form sports clubs especially female sports clubs to boost the image of female soccer in Ghana.

Our media too should air the sporting activities of our local clubs more than they do for that of foreign clubs with the exception rare cases of foreign clubs where Ghanaians abroad are part of such sports activities.

God bless our Black Stars. God bless Sports in Ghana. God bless Ghana.

May we qualify for subsequent World Cup competitions and perform with more excellence.

Yours faithfully,

Signed

Black Queens Need Our Collective Prayers And Support

Dear Readers,

I heard much to my chagrin that the Black Queen's our female national team lost 8 -0 to their France counterparts in an international friendly game on Citi FM's 6 O'clock news today.

I would want to make this suggestion that it's time for Ghanaians to fast and pray fervently for the Black Queens:it's time for our seasoned evangelists to hold prayer sessions with the team and its management via face to face encounters ,to exhort, inspire, and encourage them to strive to perform their utmost best for mother Ghana.

God is able to do all things once we yield to Him and we all do our part:I have a dream that  the Black Queens would very soon begin to win international trophies and bring great glory to God.

God bless our homeland Ghana.

Your faithfully,

Signed

Introducing Virtual Learning Formal Education Classrooms(Platforms) on Television Among Others In Ghana: Time Is Of The Essence

Introducing Virtual Learning Formal Education Classrooms(Platforms) on Television Among Others In Ghana: Time Is Of The Essence

Planning, initiative and drive is direly needed in our today's Ghanaian society.I believe no one disbelieves the fact that man's lifespan on this planet earth would not be over 200 years.

When I recently unravelled this secret to a veteran Christian minister who is in addition a close family friend in a bid to sensitize him to make good and quick decisions taking the essence of time into consideration he concluded that it was as though I had pelted an insult at him.Simply because there has always been a norm that there is no need to rush in life.

But come to think of it.Even God is not going to prolong man's age in this present world to over 200 years even if we claim ( to speak nonsensically a bit) that God did not answer our prayers in due time.Or just because we failed in claiming His promises right early.Posterity would not forgive us in this manner because there is a time for everything- a time we were born, a turn we turn 5, a time we turn 20,30,40 and a time we retire from industry, academia or business.A time for marrying and making children,a time for christening and nurturing babies, a time to enjoy the sweat and toil of our blood in good old age by receiving the reciprocated love from our grown up children.

More so there is a time to build up our societies, a time to enhance upon our educational structures and systems,a time to set up manufacturing industries, and a time to enjoy from our ceaseless labour and hard work.

It behoves upon us to challenge God,to convince Him and bargain with Him for more fairer deals(Isaiah 45:11)I am of the view that based on the afore- mentioned facts(especially the fact that man's lifespan on earth is not over 200 years) God is capable of using anybody whether young or old to give a word of wisdom, display foresight and grant direction.

From the Book of Samuel in the Holy Bible, we learn that the young boy Samuel could hear the clear voice of the Lord. The prophet Samuel whilst young was aided by the priest Eli to discern the voice of God in the temple in Israel.

This means that sometimes our political leaders could make some decisions based upon suggestions from the electorate. They should not always see the electorate as a folk who cannot hear the "voice of God"The recent governments are seeking to grant the young ones in Ghana free access to basic and secondary education
and this is a very good stride with the hope it would lead to fast pace of national development as far as formal education is concerned.

Besides, these recent governments too have since long sought to expand and build more infrastructural projects so more students could be enrolled to attain formal education. Many kudos to these governments.

None the less,it is a very serious mistake to think that the youths, older ones and the aged in our Ghanaian society-especially those amongst our rural folks--can never be granted unlimited access to formal education.Yet, it appears those in our rural communities who never had the privilege to acquire formal education have been completely omitted from this good dream despite the fact that our society had kept on developing and had advanced over the past years.

Thanks to modern technology,it is possible to get all and sundry within our present day Ghanaian society to freely acquire knowledge about the fundamentals and basics of reading, creative writing, modern business systems, technology, insurance,
finance, investment as well as about good nutrition ,personal hygiene and living a healthy lifestyle.

Virtual technology systems- computers, radio and television in this modern era could be feasibly used to turn our current Ghanaian societies into virtual learning classrooms. It is much to our disappointment that most of our television content and programmes do not teach or portray anything amounting to basic needed formal education that would bridge the gap between the highly educated and the uneducated in our society.

The programmes aired by our radio and television stations do not include lessons on basic phonetics, how to read the queen's language, other languages local and foreign, how to write good essays, business plan, letters and proposals, computing and programming languages amongst others. Our television and radio programmes do not grant us the sort of education that is highly needed in our present day society:it does not champion the fight against illiteracy.

Most people still assert that you have to be present in a physical classroom and pay very huge learning fees if you want to acquire the best of basic level, secondary level as well as profession and tertiary level education.

However, the world is rapidly changing and the earlier we introduce highly advanced forms of modern virtual learning systems- using television as an effective tool- the better it would serve our nation. It would be a huge blessing for Ghanaians of all ages.

It is high time we brought an abrupt end to promoting and patronising in television programmes that do not add value in our fight to completely wipe out illiteracy from Ghana. We should also stop encouraging our radio and television networks from concentrating a bulk of their airtime in broadcasting materials that dwell on entertainment, leisure, recreational films and telenovela, sports, music to give examples. But we should urge our various media stakeholders to showcase very good content formal basic, secondary, professional and tertiary programmes.

Age matters these days:the earlier we achieve equal level of educational knowledge the better it would help in transforming our society.Procrastinating these suggestions would kill our real joys, our real dreams of building a more advanced Ghana.

The Example of Jeremiah- Leadership and What To Do When Your Party Gets Into Opposition

The Example of Jeremiah-Leadership and What to do when your party gets into opposition.

For most people that leaders are born is the appropriate concept and for those who allow themselves to be made leaders by availing themselves for training and developing the soft skills for leadership it is best to follow the example and study the characteristics of leaders who are naturally born so.

Jeremiah is a crystal clear example of a leader who was born as a leader by being made so by Yahweh right whilst he was in his mother's womb(Jeremiah 1:4&5).He had the inborn traits of a (spiritual) leader- a prophet who was to preach or to (spiritually) lead the nations.

Leaders are often "prophets" be they secular or otherwise for instance be they political or  business leaders or be they leaders in charge of institutions. This is rightly so because more often than not it takes speculation or prediction, forecasting, foresight, discernment, vision, revelation as well as wisdom and knowledge to steer affairs at the helm of any human set up.

Ghana's political situation is not different either.I would recommend the Book of Jeremiah of the Old Testament of the Bible for a very careful study by all our political leaders- those in power, those in opposition and for all those who believe they might one day be political leaders.

It behoves us all to read and study this religious book in between lines not as just being a Christian book, a biblical or a religious account. We should draw conclusions and lessons from this book that pertains to business, information and communication technology, agriculture, health and reproduction, politics and governance as well as education and creative writing.

Jeremiah we know is termed the "weeping prophet" because he wept more often than not as he went about his duties as a religious leader. There is something interesting about weeping.Weeping does not meant you have lost it all.Through this therapy you detest the unhappy condition prevailing in the "economy" but you could see timeless treasures and possibilities for improvement, success and change in the nation.

You see your weaknesses,be they physical, moral, spiritual among many others but it should help you to discover that amidst this feeling you could convince those you bear rule over - all the governed- to buy into the positive dreams no matter how they try to strongly oppose you in your bid to work towards the foreseen betterment and change(Refer to Jeremiah 1:19).

Leaders do not always stay in power; sometimes they lose power and sometimes they are actually leaders who should pass the tests to become appointed or elected as such.Their natural instincts should alway lead them to do the best at all times as good leaders whether they have just lost power or have been newly elected into office.

I wish to narrow the theme of this article to what our political leaders should do when their parties lose power and get into opposition citing the case of political parties in Ghana as an example.

When you are in opposition you are in your "fallow" period. This period in agriculture connotes a period when a parcel of land that has hitherto been actively used for farming activities (especially for growing crops) is allowed to rest for some few years.A party in opposition too could be said as a party whose electorate having elected them to govern the nation for some years now is for this period allowed to "rest for a while" from office.

The metaphor in Jeremiah 4:3 about "fallow ground" is that it is not the time for members of the opposition parties to get bitter- backbite and fight amongst themselves. It is equally not a time to find faults in every new thing the new party in power does.

I believe it is a moment to break the fallow "grounds" to "water" their "fallow" land and get it ready for "cultivation of crops to begin " upon the time this opposition party in question is ushered into office again by this same electorate.

Ghana would benefit so much from an opposition of this sort:if the opposition party sought for more dynamic ways of investing financially when such party lost power; if the said opposition party drafted a more solid plan for the future of the nation, which was to be implemented once the said party got the nod to rule the nation again.

To make an allusion to the game of football we know that when you are a player sitting on the bench due to an injury from a previous match you make sure you use this period of rest carefully to make sure your injury is completely healed, and judiciously to find ways of improving upon your teams performance once you are called back onto the pitch: An opposition party should find their individual and collective faults and work upon overcoming these faults of theirs.

An opposition party should study the status quo of the party in governance for the day and write down plans to completely improve upon it.

Personally I suggest that an opposition party should adapt ways and means of networking with great business men and women, globally well-recognised entrepreneurs, that of religious bodies, other political figures and institutional heads across the globe( especially from the highly advanced countries)so they could fill their party's treasuries with a wealth of ideas and resources. When the current ruling party fades in political influence, charm and power over our nation Ghana, the party in opposition would in that wise have a fair chance- in fact an edge in leadership prospects----- and any opposition political party with very clear prospects for our nation would definitely be voted into power in due season to champion and further the good course of justice, freedom and development.

Financial Literacy Very Key Amidst Changing Trends In Basic Education

Dear Readers,

While I taught in primary and Junior High School levels, I realized that an in-depth information on financial literacy was totally absent from pupils and students educational curriculum, textbooks and supplementary reading materials.

We are living in an age where adequate knowledge about money, finance, economics, banking is key to the growth of our currently entrepreneurial society.

Medics, engineers,architects,pilots,
language scholars and many more require enough information on investment, savings, insurance - especially life insurance as well as accounting to enjoy a comfortable life.

"Train up the child the way he should go and when he is old he would not depart from it", is a scripture we often hear in our ears.

Have you ever pondered over the fact that when our young ones are well informed and taught about financial literacy well tailored for the level they would hardly err or make unnecessary mistakes in their future decision making. They would be very wise in making good use of every opportunity that come their way in our present society.

Caring For One Another- The Role Of The Church

Dear Readers,
CARING FOR ONE ANOTHER-The Role Of Ghana's Churches
It was a big surprise to me when I was given an answer that a very big orthodox church we have in Ghana has no prayer line you could call to request for prayers 24/7 in a week.Do we really care for one another as Ghanaians as far as the church is concerned?
Life we all know is not just about what we eat or wear, the nature of the work we do or where we live in this country.Sometimes it is about who cares for you, who would visit you to hold your hands and pray with you- who cares for you.
It may interest us to learn that in the advanced countries there are lots of toll free numbers where you could call by day or night for prayers, words of encouragement or sometimes for other forms of assistance. To digress a little I feel mesmerized that over here in Ghana you could call the police about an arm robbery case and little concern is shown. What if over 20 persons are being murdered in cold blood? Would there be any effort shown to intervene in a timely way to offer them help or rescue?
In the advanced countries churches and pastors do chase after the people in their communities to offer them help but in Africa the situation is a complete antithesis- opposite.I mean prayer assistance especially.Give your number to a church in the advanced countries and they would always call you to find out your prayer needs to pray with you. They would even come to your address. This can help business men and women to prosper mightily as the Spirit of God would be there to lead them in answer to the prayers. Not to talk about liberty from sudden attacks of ailments and demons.
Life spun is high in these countries because there is always someone to show concern. Is the church here going to take a cue?
Yours faithfully,
